Don't trust Latam Airlines with your travel.

Yesterday was meant to be more discovery of Quito, however in the morning I discovered that Latam Airlines had changed the travel time - from early morning to late afternoon - of my return trip from the Amazon (without any notice or warning). As a result all my travel plans for my trip back to Australia had to be changed. Not really a simple task as there were three seperate flights and an overnight stay involved. All was going well until I tried to change my return from Santiago, Chile back to Sydney. Of course their website would not let me do it. After about 3 frustrating hours I finally was able to contact a real person (through a chat site!) who got me on a flight home. Of course, the financial penalty was huge, as there were limited seats. The whole problem was due to Latam, yet I ended up paying the penalty and spent the best part of the day trying to fix the mess. It'll be interesting to see if they respond to my numerous emails or complaints.
Today I did manage to see a little more of this fascinating city. I grabbed an Uber for a drive / ride around town and ended up at the Virgin de El Panecillo which is the worlds tallest aluminium statue and also the tallest image of a winged Virgin Mary. This 135ft tall statue is the highest in Ecuador and one of the highest in South America (taller than Christ the Redeemer in Brazil). The views from the top of this hill were amazing and you could pretty much see the whole of Quito. The Uber driver took me on a pretty long drive through the city, parts of which he told me to put up my window "for security", similiar to the advice I received in Lima Peru. But I will say that the whole time I have been in Quito I have felt very safe as I wandered around this incredible city.
